Graduate Research Assistants

The Department of Social Work awards a number of graduate research and teaching assistantship positions for the academic year (August 25 - May 24). Depending on availability of funds, one-semester positions may be available. The positions involve work within the Social Work Department, under the supervision of Social Work faculty. The following are the specifics:

  • 10 hr/wk positions are available.
  • Positions are available for next academic year.
  • Selection is based on merit demonstrated by a strong academic record (ability to write, critically think, and conduct research)
  • Positions are open to new and continuing students
  • Tuition assistance may be available.

Graduate research/teaching assistantship (GRA/GTA) applications are being accepted for next academic year. The application deadline for full consideration is March 31. Please complete the application and submit a current resume and writing sample (writing sample for SWiRL applicants only) electronically to socw@gmu.edu.
