The Department of Social Work
The Department of Social Work at George Mason University for more than 50 years has prepared students to improve the well-being of individuals, families, and communities. As a CSWE-accredited program, the department focuses on assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs at all levels to affect social change. Located just 15 miles from the nation’s capital, we are in an ideal region to directly impact social change on the local and national levels and create meaningful government policies that transform lives.
“This is why I love this place – the College of Public Health at George Mason is one of the few colleges of public health that incorporates a School of Nursing and social work. You’re not going to be able to do public health without that.”
—Dr. Ashish Jha, national leader on the U.S.’s COVID-19 response
