CHHS Staff

  • Liz Laster joined the faculty in Summer 2022 as Assistant Director of Practicum Education. Prior to joining the department of social work, Liz worked as a school social worker with Fairfax County Public schools as well as with therapeutic foster care in Washington, DC.

  • Melissa Hensley joined the George Mason University Department of Social Work in April 2020 as a Practicum Education Coordinator. Prior to joining the Department of Social Work, Melissa’s work focused on long-term care and hospice, as well as advocacy within the community for additional programs to support the aging population.

  • Andrew Furr is the Research Administrator for the Office of Research. He has over a decade of experience serving in various finance roles within higher education operations at both two-year and four-year institutions, including Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason University.

  • Julio Diaz is an Academic Advisor for undergraduate students at the College of Public Health.

  • Ms. Lisa Climer is Assistant Director of Practicum Education in the Department of Social Work. In this capacity, she advises graduate and undergraduate students entering practicum, teaches field seminar courses, and collaborates with community agencies and faculty to support and develop field placements and partnerships.

  • Katherine Cornejo joined George Mason University’s Social Work Faculty as the Child Welfare Stipend Program Coordinator in April, 2017.

  • Le Anne Wisnieski joined the Department of Social Work as a part-time staff member in 2015.  She assumed her full-time position as Student Services Coordinator in 2019. 

  • Maria Perez is the Associate Director of Undergraduate Student Success in the Office of Student Affairs within the College of Public Health. She joined the college in January 2017 as an Academic Advisor. Previously, Maria worked with Mason's Office of Admissions, working primarily with transfer and international students.
